These programs provide a great opportunity for getting the students out of the city and introducing them to activities they may not otherwise have had the chance to try.
 
Some schools choose this type of program right away because a big part of their culture has been to take students on field trips. As such, they and the parents are more comfortable with the idea of sending students on multi-day outings.
 
The activities students experience are similar to the ones listed in the urban-based programs, however, they also have the opportunity to hike, paddle lakes and rivers, build shelters, sleep in tents, cook over an open fire, and enjoy the outdoors!
